A Little Rest (A.K. A. The Quiet before the Storm)

So Justin and I went to Gatlinburg, TN for the weekend. His grandparents are up there and we knew this would be the last time we might see them for a few months. While there we hiked, relaxed, went to the aquarium and spent time with them. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

The new penguin exhibit.
A spider crab... creepy.
The shark tank. Way cool.
The jellies!
A black swallowtail on our hike.
The view from our hike. We hiked to Clingman's Dome. Which is the highest point in Tennessee.

Life is going to speed up soon! Next weekend we are visiting Midland! Then September 11th a Braves game. Then on the 18th Midland again. The weekend after that my birthday! October 9- 16 Walt Disney World! I get to swim with Dolphins at Epcot! November there is a week at Myrtle Beach, and then a week back in Midland for Christmas in December! I am so looking forward to the next few months.

My Mile

I RAN A MILE! I RAN A MILE! ME! The one who the doctors told me I would never be able to run. The one who has had 3 leg surgeries on each leg! The one who had to wear leg braces to stand for more than 30 minutes! MY GOD IS GREAT! MY GOD THE HEALER! I RAN A MILE! No stopping, no walking, one straight mile. :D :D :D Next goal: Participate in a 5k.

"Being Gutsy"

I need to lose weight. No really, I'm not one of those girls who is medically the perfect weight and just wants to lose 5 pounds to feel better about herself. My doctor actually told me I should lose weight.

I knew that I had gained some weight since being married, but I had no idea how much! Before the wedding I lost like twenty pounds and was still 12 pounds to my ideal 'make the doctor happy weight.' Then somehow being married for one year... I gained like 30 pounds! How on earth did I do that! That's sick, it's crazy; but strangely it still snuck up on me. As a result I have 41 pounds to lose if I want to be my medically perfect weight.

That is a lot of weight. So to help motivate myself, I'm going to be a little '"gutsy." And display how much weight I have left to lose at the bottom of my blog. Maybe a little public embarrassment will help me stick to my goal of one pound a week...

GO BRAVES!

Justin has loved the Braves ever since he was ten years old. However, yesterday was the first game he ever attended. Here are a few pictures!

Justin standing in the parking lot.
Justin and me inside the stadium.

The Stadium... and our seats...

At the end of the night, the Braves won! They beat the Giants 3 - 0. It was awesome! It was also the first baseball game that I watched the full game.

The One Mile Challenge

Running one mile may not be difficult for some people. Okay, for most people. But running one mile for me would be a huge accomplishment. Until my senior year of high school I had not be able to run at all... walking was a huge challenge, and at one point standing. Now after many braces, surgeries, therapy, and prayer; I am able to stand, walk, and now... run.

About six weeks ago I bought running shoes and started to walk. Two weeks in I started to "run." Really it was jogging and only for very short distances (like a hundred meters). Now I am able to "run" for half a mile! My goal is to run one mile by 2011.

The best part about this is how God has totally come through. I have had many doctors tell me that I will never be able to play sports, dance, or run. Well, I guess the doctors have never met my God, because even after everything the doctors tried to do for me, I kept getting worse. Once people started to pray for me, and I gave it up to God; I started to get better.

Now, three years later, I am running!
I love how great my God is!

Blogging?

Blogging? Really? The answer is yes!

I have been reading a few other blogs recently, and I love them! Not that anyone is going to want to read this, but what a great way to journal what is going on in my life. I think the best part will be going back after a few months and seeing what God has been doing in my life.

So in the words of Peter Pan, "Here we go!"
