Huge Blessings!

In the last week I have been blessed with a new washer/dryer, and a new rocker/recliner !
My new front loading, steam capable washer and dryer!
Now I REALLY, REALLY needed a new washer. My old unit was one of those all-in-one ancient (I think it was older than me) things that made SO much noise that I couldn't do laundry at night. It seriously sounded like a sledge hammer was trying to break through the wall during the spin cycle! Plus, it was not efficient at all. It would take almost two hours to dry a very small load. My new one is amazing! I can fit the equivalent of four loads in my new washer and it uses less soap! AND IT'S QUIET! The dryer can dry a huge load in 35 minutes! I am so excited! The best part? I got the washer a little over 40% off and the dryer 44% off! We don't have any dirty laundry in the house because I've been having so much fun...
My new "leather," recliner! I might share with the hubby if he's nice....
The chair was not a necessity like the washer and dryer... but we had been talking about getting a new chair for a while. The old one we got for free and it was broken... The seams were ripped, the springs were shot, and it wouldn't rock or recline. But it was free.

This chair is great! It rocks, it reclines, and it's make out of left-over leather bits that are somehow stuck together. (Does that make it somewhat green?) I love this chair. To make things even better, it was almost 50% off.

Justin says that I'm spoiled, and I kinda agree! However, is it being spoiled when you know you are blessed and appreciate it? Because I TOTALLY appreciate how blessed I am! (P.S. He's getting surround-sound so he's spoiled too!)

Speaking on Purity

So last night Justin and I gave the message at Elevate Student Ministries... and of course we spoke on purity.

We think it went pretty well. The night started out with a little worship and it totally set me in the right place to begin speaking. When worship was over we jumped in and started! Justin gave his testimony, and then I gave mine (why is mine always so much longer?). Then we gave our couple's testimony. That was my favorite part because we kept going back and forth giving bits of info about our dating life. I love how people are so shocked when they find out we didn't kiss until we were at the altar getting married.
Our first kiss.
After our testimonies we played this video:
I think it got the point across. Well, once the video was done we read two verses:
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, “3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b] The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 6:18-2018 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
We explained the verses and then jumped into our "notes":
       How to stay pure:
a.     Surrendering your will to God
                                 i.      Megan’s conversion
ii.      Matthew 12:30 “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.”
b.     Establish boundaries
                                 i.      Megan dating promise
ii.      Only date Christians (2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”)
c.      Be accountable
                                 i.      Justin’s grandparents
ii.      Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

I at the end of the service we passed out purity pledge cards and asked them to pray about their decision. I am excited to say that about half of the students signed a pledge! I pray they will have the strength to stick with it. It's tough, but so worth it.

Hiking Rainbow Falls

Well yesterday the hubby and I hiked Rainbow Falls in the Great Smokey Mountains. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful 5.2 mile hike. The only problem: I AM SO OUT OF SHAPE! I almost didn't make it to the waterfall, and then my knees were killing me on the way back down the mountain. Today, I am so incredibly sore. However, even after all the pain, I'm glad we did it. It feels like an amazing accomplishment, and it was a wonderful use of four hours on a Saturday. Here are pictures from the trail:
The hubby and me at the beginning of the trail.

A little sample of what the trail looked like. It was a lot steeper than it looks.

The trail is on the left, the stream is on the right... they are pretty close.

I loved all the moss! I almost expected fairies to pop out of the trees it was so pretty.

The hubby on a log bridge.

Cascades about a quarter of a mile from the Falls.

Me and Justin with Rainbow Falls in the background.
I would do this hike again in a heartbeat... I just might wait until I'm a little more in shape.

A Romantic Valentine's Day.

My wonderful husband gave me a very romantic Valentine's Day.

The day started out with a handmade card and a scavenger hunt. The card was incredibly sweet and had the first clue on it. Each clue has a reason why he loves me and where to find the next clue.

"I love the way you capture me in the morning when I need to get to work." The clue said to look on the mirror.

"I love your smile." The back said to go to the dryer.

"I love you because you take such good care of me." The back said to go to the family Bible.

"I love your passion for I:43 and the youth." Next clue: the fridge.

"You are a great cook." The back said to go to the man cave (aka the closet under the stairs).

"I love that you love me." The back said to go to the jewelry box he bought me for last Valentine's Day.

"I love how beautiful you are -- even without jewelry." The back said to look in the bottom drawer.

Coupons! One is for frozen yogurt at Perkits (I love Perkits). The other is to go shopping for a new chain for my locket.
When Justin got home from work he sent me upstairs for 45 minutes while he made us dinner. Three courses!
He decorated the table...

First Course: Minestrone soup.

Second Course: Cheese Tortellini with Alfredo sauce.

My dinner with the hubby...

Third Course: Pineapple... I love pineapple.

After dinner Justin took me to Perkits (and no, I didn't have to use my coupon). It turns out they are doing this promotion that if you got your picture taken you get BOGO fro-yo! So we got our picture taken. They told us they will put it online; when that happens I'll link it here.

We both agreed it has been our best Valentine's Day together. It was a very special evening.

RAMP

Last Friday and Saturday Justin and I went with some of our church youth to the RAMP in Hamilton, Alabama.

It was a crazy but fun weekend. So Friday we met at the church and loaded up the students. We left at 3:45 and drove to Alabama. It was a long trip... 4 hours in a old church van with 8 youth, 11 to 18 years old... The youth were great though!

We arrived just in time for the first service at the RAMP. It was incredible. I haven't been in a service like that since I was in high school! Here is a little video clip I took (naughty I know, but I couldn't resist...)
video
So after service all the students... and Pastor Jonathan were starving, or so they claimed to be... so we stopped at McDonald's and got a million chicken nuggets. (It was more like 70 but a million sounds better).

After the midnight snack we drove to the place we were staying at. These two guys who are interns at the RAMP let us take over their trailer for the night. I was super excited to find out that I could use my position as a youth leader to score an air mattress... (O.K. One of the other girls didn't want one, so I was able to have one, but still...)

I was so proud of my young women the next morning! They got up at 6am to shower and pack up, I didn't even have to ask them to get moving. I am definitely a blessed youth leader... Well, once we all packed up we drove to Burger King and got breakfast... I took a few photos there, including a group photo.
The youth and Pastor Jonathan...

It was a chilly morning and Pastor Jonathan (or PJ as the youth call him) forgot his coat...
After breakfast we went back to the RAMP for half a service. So pretty much after worship we had to load back up in the church van and drive four hours back to Chattanooga. But, of course, we had to stop at Wal-mart to get more food...

On the road Pastor Jonathan and the students came up with this chant:
video

I found it hilarious, and infinitely better than the Hillshire Farm chant they were doing before..."Go meat!"

It was a great trip with no problems. I hope to take the youth group back to the RAMP sometime soon... and to stay for the whole weekend.

Dreams and Prayer...

I'm not sure if other people have this happen to them, but I thought I would share anyway.

Ever since I've been married I will randomly have dreams that include someone from my past that I haven't talked to in a long time. The dream is never about them, but they will just kinda "walk through" my dream.

The last time this happened I hadn't talk to or even heard of this person for YEARS. Seriously hadn't even had them cross my mind for years. Anyway, I'm dreaming that I'm going to a party in the evening and I'm going through my day getting ready for this party, I finally get there and as I am walking into the party, this person walks out, they said "hey," and then walk away. I go into the party and have fun...

The thing is after these type of dreams I always wake up wide awake (for those of you who know me, I almost NEVER wake up wide awake). I will be sitting there in bed and just know they are going though something tough, and I've been woken up for a purpose... to pray for them.

This doesn't happen very often to me, and normally it only happens once and that's it. But for the past three nights I've had totally different dreams but the same person does their "walk through." Needless to say, I've been praying for them a lot. I was hoping that the people that read my blog would be praying for my old friend too.

Superbowl Party...

Well, the Hubby and I just threw our "Annual Superbowl Party."

The turnout was better than last year. A year ago we had a couple come over for just the first quarter... this year they stayed for a whole half. This year we also had another friend come over for a little bit.Total that is 3 people for half the game this year verses 2 people for a quarter last year! I bet next year will be even better!

As always I made too much food. Justin compares me to Michael Scott from the Office... "I can't tell you how much leftover guacamole I've ended up eating over the years. I don't even know why I make it in such great quantities." What a compliment... Oye.
The mountain of food I made... this picture doesn't include the pizzas and bread sticks...

I'm really proud of the cupcakes I made though... they're pretty and they tasted good.

I love the cupcake liners my Mum bought me... they match my house.

The funniest part of the evening was listening to our friends read aloud twitter posts about the game... as it was going on.

Overall it was a nice evening, I'm already looking forward to next year.

Drama, Drama, Drama!

Last night at I:43 (the college group I'm a leader at...) we did a drama as part of the sermon.

The drama was to the song "Saved" by Kutless. It was really moving. I got goosebumps just watching it!

Jesus, aka Sam, was Jesus in our drama. The two black shadows on each side of him are demons.

Our whole team during the drama.

Jesus (Sam) in the middle with demons in the background. And of course, the lovely people the demons were tormenting...
It was a great night last night, we even  had a few people rededicate their lives to Christ!

I'm looking forward to tonight when Justin and I get to hang out with the youth at our church!
