Our Fun and Productive Weekend

This weekend we decided to take it really easy and slow because for the next month, we have something big every single weekend.

So, of course, the best way to start out a slow weekend is to wake up early to see a movie... right? Well, according to my hubby that is, so we saw a 10:30 showing of Cars 2. Except that the only theater he likes going to is 30 minutes away, and did I mention we showed up before the theater even opened? I'm used to his craziness though, and we had fun. Cute movie too.
Yes, I am wearing my 3D glasses...
On the way home we stopped at Arby's (Baby and I were starving...) and a discount store... we ended up buying an air mattress because we have a few visitors coming next month, and we weren't going to have enough beds!

When we got home Justin suddenly decided we needed to clean out the closet in the nursery and the linen closet... I wasn't going to complain... It's something that needed to be done before baby comes in December, but I figured I'd get to it when the nesting started to kick in. It turns out, the nesting thing hit the hubby really early. Again, I'm not going to complain, I didn't want to do it myself, and it's done!
My beautifully organized linen closet! I even have a whole shelf of extra room now!
That was Saturday, Sunday we went to church and then we ate at Tako Yaki. It's one of those japanese places that cook the food on a grill in front of you. Yum, yum! When we got home the hubby watched the NASCAR race and then we baked chocolate chip cookies.

Not an overly eventful weekend, but it was nice. Now I just need to pump myself up for these next few crazy weekends!

Pregnancy Update: Week 15

How Far Along: 15 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I keep losing weight! I have now lost four pounds! My doctor said she's gonna watch me because I'm suppose to have gained about five... not lose!

Gender: Don't know yet, we find out July 20th! So excited!

Movement: Nothing yet... though looking forward to it! Though at the doctors appointment yesterday she had a hard time getting the heartbeat because my baby wouldn't stop moving! :D

Baby is Big as a: Avocado (4-5 inches and 3.5 oz)

Sleep: Sleep has gotten a little better. I think I'm just used to the new kind of "sleep" I get. Also, I must confess, I ordered a pregnancy pillow... I'm a tummy sleeper, and well, that just isn't working anymore, so I caved and bought the darn pillow. *sigh*

What I miss: Not too much... probably just having an appetite.

Cravings: Potato Chips! However, I will not cave on this one, there is like no nutritional value with potato chips, and I will not eat them... But oh, the salty goodness.

Food Aversions: Hot dogs... *shutter*

Symptoms: I don't have morning sickness like I used to, but I still get really car sick.
Just a little round ligament pain when I go for a walk or do a lot of housework.
Oh, and if I'm on my feet for a long time (like at Disney) my feet swell. That has never happened to me before (not including my surgeries...).

Best Moment this week: Going maternity clothes shopping with my mum and hearing the baby's heartbeat at the doctor's office.

My Mum & Brother's Visit

Wow, what a busy week! As a result, this is your warning: This is a LONG blog post!

Everything started two Sunday's ago when my family arrived. It was late, so we basically just showed them around the house, unloaded their stuff, and then went to Sonic for dinner. My mum brought baby (& me) a few presents:
The classic Pooh Bear I got for Christmas got three new friends!

Huggies has Pooh Bear diapers for a limited time... mum bought some! :D

Monday we got pedicures, yes, even my brother! It was hilarious watching him have everything done to his feet! Right after he said he wasn't ticklish, he couldn't stop laughing! After pedicures we drove to Chattanooga and ate at Buffalo Wild Wings... yum! I had been craving it for a couple months now so I was a very happy girl! After lunch we crossed the street and went to the Tennessee Aquarium. So much fun! I love that place and it was the first time my mum went. I love looking at all the little Nemos!

The next day my brother woke up at 5 am to go fishing with a friend of mine. He didn't get home until almost 11pm! What a long day!
One of the fish he caught.

My mum and I had fun too. We drove to Chattanooga for a day of shopping. I was in dire need of some maternity clothes because, well, I had one pair of shorts and four shirts I had been rotating. Now I have pretty clothes and things to wear to church! Yay!

Wednesday we just chilled at home because Adam was tired from fishing, and I was worn out from so much activity the past few days! Mum didn't complain, she was just happy to be with her kids... (awwww). Here is a picture of my 6 foot 4 inch baby brother sun-tanning... LOL.

Thursday was a day spent cleaning and packing because that evening we were planning on heading to Gatlinburg for the last part of their trip. Justin ended up taking Friday off so we could have a longer weekend. So once he was out of work we loaded up the car and headed out! Of course we had to stop at Chick-fil-a so my Yankee family could get their fill of good chicken and waffle fries!! (They wanted to stop on their way down on Sunday, but well, it was Sunday, and they didn't know Chick-fil-a is closed on Sundays!) When we got to Gatlinburg we went downtown so we could do a little shopping and play at Fannie Farkles (an arcade). Justin hit the monster jackpot, and I hit the normal jackpot twice! Poor Adam, he never hit a jackpot, but he did have fun! He even won a little something for a girl he likes.
Justin and I with our thousands of tickets!

The next morning we got up early because we were going to Dollywood for the day. The morning was spent walking around and around the park because the boys rode every single roller coaster... twice. Mum and I watched, but we still had fun. For lunch we went to Red's a 50's diner inside Dollywood. After lunch we saw two shows, Sha-Kon-O-Hey! and Dreamland Drive-In. Then the boys got a few more rides in. By then it was about 6pm, so we headed to Golden Corral for dinner with Justin's grandparents. It was so much fun! I ended up going up to the buffet three times... all for salad! I couldn't get enough! They were teasing me because when they all went up for dessert, I came back with more salad!

Saturday we went putt putt golfing in the morning. It was really fun, and funny. My brother kept trash talking everyone about how he was going to beat everyone.... he lost. My mum won, and I got second. However, Justin and I got hole-in-ones on the last hole so we won two free games to be used within a year! Yay! After putt putt we ate a packed lunch and then when to Pigeon Forge. Mum and I went to Tanger, and the boys went to Knifeworks, a giant knife store. Mum bought the baby some adorable overalls!
The score card from putt putt.
The adorable overalls!

After Tanger and Knifeworks, we were starving so we headed over to the Mill distirct and ate at the Pottery House. They have magical french fries and I ate a lot of them! We went back to the cabin and chilled because we were all exhausted.

Sunday we cleaned and packed up. Once everything was all set at the cabin we headed back home, did laundry and helped Mum and Adam pack up to head back to Michigan. Early yesterday morning they left.

It was a crazy whirl-wind week, but it was fun. It was nice to show off our new home and see my family for more than just a couple days. I miss them already, but they sure know how to wear out a poor pregnant woman! ;)

Working on the Nursery...

Last April when Justin and I found out I was pregnant, we started to look for a glider for the nursery... and we found one on Craigslist.

It wasn't bad, I mean it needed a little paint, and the cushions were baby blue (we don't know the sex of the baby yet, and I wanted to have covers on the cushions anyway.), but it was comfortable and doesn't look like it belongs in grandma's knitting corner. AND, it was dirt cheap... like really cheap. So it became our chair. Justin painted it right away and I began my search for the perfect material to cover the cushions.

Now that was an adventure. It took me three or four different fabric stores, and a month of looking, but I found exactly what I wanted, and it was 50% off, so I was ecstatic. The fabric is outdoor fabric (so I can just wipe stuff off it) and it's this pretty light yellow color that matches the color we painted the walls. It has white geometric shapes all over it too. Very neutral and classic.

We brought it home and I began sewing. It was harder than I first anticipated because the bottom cushion is a "T-cushion" (basically, in the shape of a T), so I had my work cut out for me. The cushions turned out pretty good, not perfect, but I'm happy, and the glider looks so cute in the nursery!

Here is the glider all finished in the nursery.
If you want to see the pattern better, click on the photo and it will enlarge.
I love sitting in this chair! Now all I need is my baby to rock...

Pregnancy Update - Week 13

So I have decided to do these pregnancy blog updates, because I would like to track how things are going. Plus, I love reading other bloggers pregnancy updates, so I thought I would share too! I will post these near the end of each week, which is actually in the middle of my "pregnancy week."

How Far Along: 13 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At my last doctor's appointment, I found out I've lost 3 pounds. However, morning sickness is gone, so who knows?

Gender: Don't know yet, we find out July 20th! So excited!

Movement: Nothing yet... though looking forward to it!

Sleep: What is that? Between not being able to get comfortable, and getting up to visit the bathroom twenty times a night, I haven't been sleeping well.

What I miss: A good night's sleep and being able to sleep in.

Cravings: Salty food and broccoli.

Food Aversions: Hot dogs... *shutter*

Symptoms: I don't have morning sickness like I used to, but I still get really car sick.
Also, I have been having some pretty crazy cramps in my lower back and sometimes my lower tummy.
Oh, and if I'm on my feet for a long time (like at Disney) my feet swell. That has never happened to me before (not including my surgeries...).

Best Moment this week: Visiting with my In-Laws in Gatlinburg, and talking about baby things with my mother-in-law.
