Pirate Jonah!

Happy Halloween from Pirate Jonah!

He's here to steal all your chicken nuggets and apple juice!

(P.S. If you see something in his mouth other than two teeth in these pictures, it's the chicken nugget piece I bribed him with to keep the bandanna on...)
(P.S.S. We're not really celebrating Halloween this year, but I figured it was a cute excuse to dress up my kid anyway.)

Hubby's Favorite Meatballs

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes, so I figured I better post it before the church cookbook that it comes from completely falls apart (it's close).

2 lbs hamburger
1 cup crushed corn flakes
2 eggs
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder
1/3 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp. chopped onion
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
12 oz. chili sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Mix together hamburger, corn flakes, eggs, soy sauce, garlic powder, ketchup, onion, and pepper. Form into balls. Place in 13x9 inch pan. Heat cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice and pour over meatballs. Bake at 350* for 1 hour.

**Megan's note: I've put the meatballs and sauce in the crock-pot for four hours on high and it turned out just the same.

***A wonderful woman by the name of Tenley Starks is the one who submitted this yummy recipe to the church cookbook. Just givin' credit where it's due! Thanks Tenley!

Reading My Bible

I love reading. I'm one of those girls who will stay up all night just so I can finish the book I currently can't put down. When I read I get so lost in the story that I don't see the words on the page; I can see the characters in my mind. It's kinda like watching television for me. I get so wrapped up in plot and characters that if I'm not careful it affects my mood and my day.

I love reading. Why is it then, so hard for me to love reading my Bible? The Bible is real. It is truth. It would be a wonderful and glorious thing if I could get so wrapped up in my daily Bible reading that it affected my mood and my day like so many other books I read. It's way more exciting than most books I read too: it's full of love stories, murder, giants, angels, demons, any so much more! And the cherry on the top? It's all true, given to me by my Savior, the most important person in my life. Why, oh why is it so hard to read my Bible with the passion and relish that I enjoy so many other books?

I have come to the conclusion that Bible reading must be like intense worship experiences or awesome glory filled conferences... there are mountaintops and valleys; and unfortunately you can't stay on the mountaintop forever.  I think the most important thing is that when I tumble down into the valleys I need to make sure I STILL read the Word with devotion. It's so easy for me to just read the words on the page, but I need to read those words and try my hardest to dive deeper into studying them.

I have a plan I follow every day, it helps me to make sure that I do get into God's word daily. The only problem is that currently I am reading words on a page, not letting it wash over me and affect my life. How do I fix that? I'm really not sure, but I am open to suggestions.

"You're Pregnant, AGAIN?"

Last night at church that was the comment from one of young adults from youth group. "You're pregnant, again?" I thought it was hilarious, because a few months ago that was my thought exactly. As time has gone by I've gotten a little more excited about this new little person that God has chosen to bless us with... terrified, but excited.

What I am most excited about right now is that in 26 days we get to find out the gender of Itty Bitty! The hubby is convinced it's a girl (he thought Jonah Bear was a girl too); me, I'm not so sure. But I am curious to know what y'all think! So to the right side of my blog you'll find a little poll. Please take a second to vote and let us know what you think we are having!

Weekend Recap

It seems like every time I have a weekend that is worth blogging about I start out by writing that is was a very busy weekend. Well, this past weekend is no exception, but I need to work on becoming more eloquent.

Thursday night our house guests arrived for a wedding of mutual friends that was taking place this weekend.
Our guests were the Wilson family! Jonah loves playing with Isaac!

Justin had Friday off thanks to his temporary 4/10 schedule (he works 10 hours Monday through Thursday and then gets Friday off.), so he ended up prepping our deck to be stained this next weekend. He spent about 2 hours scrubbing our dirty nasty deck. What a wonderful and hardworking hubby I have!

Saturday we had that wedding to go to and I was in charge of the getting people to sign the guest book and the cake. Until Saturday I had never cut and served a wedding cake. Well, I will be adding that to my resume shortly. I didn't do too bad considering it was melting a bit in the sun. Justin was on Jonah duty the whole time and I was so proud of my men! They made me look good. Jonah was a good boy, and Justin was amazing. The wedding was simple and beautiful. I pray the bride and groom have a very blessed marriage. Later that evening our friends who were in the wedding and staying with us came back home and we talked late into the night.
My son, the bully. Oye, really, Jonah wasn't trying to poke Isaac's eye out, he's just curious.

I promise that my son isn't beating his friend into submission, Isaac rolled over and Jonah thought, hey, a leg!
See! They really were playing together and having fun!

Sunday was church, which was wonderful as usual. Though worship was extra long, which mean that the service was extra long, which in turn, meant there was one hungry, grumpy pregnant woman that my poor hubby had to deal with. Y'all, I am so very blessed. Justin is so patient and understanding. After we got home we spent the afternoon and evening with our friends. However, we didn't stay up too late. Justin had to work today, and I wasn't feeling all that great.

This morning I woke up with a cold. Blah. Justin also forgot his coffee and his cell phone broke. On the plus side we get to spend a little more time with our sweet friends before they have go back home this evening.

Again, long busy weekend, but so blessed.

Ten Months

Ten months old. It's hard to believe that in 2 short months my little man will be a YEAR OLD! How crazy is that?
Not the best photo, but he's so wiggly it's the only photo that had both him and Pooh Bear sitting upright!

Jonah weighs 21 pounds which is 40% for his age, and he is 28 inches in length which is 60% for his age! Little dude ain't so little anymore! His doctor think's he's gonna shoot up in height even more... doesn't surprise me at all: my brother is 6'4''.

Jonah will eat anything you put in front of him, and some other stuff he figures he wants to try. Seriously, the boy doesn't even say no to peas anymore. When we went to Disney this past weekend he tried a little bit of EVERYTHING we had... including Pop-Tarts, chicken, fries, and a popsicle.

Something new is that he weaned himself off the bottle. One day he just refused to take a bottle with a nipple on it. I sat with him for nearly 20 minutes and he just wouldn't drink, so I finally just put a sippy cup lid on it, and he downed the formula in 5 minutes flat. So I packed up the bottles and bought an extra sippy cup.

No change in his sleeping patterns... still a solid 11 hours straight at night. However, one thing we started doing at night is putting him in a disposable diaper that is specifically for night time, and is one size too big... The boy is a heavy wetter. No matter what I did with cloth diapers (hemp liners, double liners, etc) he would wake up soaked. Now with the special night-time diaper and it being a size bigger than he needs (a size 4) he only wakes up wet about once a week. That cuts down on my laundry a lot.

Silly boy still won't crawl. He'll get himself up on his hands and knees, but won't move. He will however, push himself backwards on his tummy and get stuck under things like chairs, couches, and entertainment centers. I've gotten a few funny pictures of him stuck. He also will pull himself half way up to standing, realize what he's doing and promptly sit back down.

He also learned how to say "yum," "nana," "yeah," and "hi."

Thought I'd add these photos so you could see how... um... "productive" our photo shoot was.

Rocking his chair as usual.

Trying to climb out of the chair.

Loving on Pooh Bear.

My Birthday and Jo's First Disney Trip!

This past week has been crazy. Wednesday was my 24th birthday, and while that day was kinda weird and boring, we actually celebrated my day of birth at Walt Disney World last weekend! It was also my sweet little Jonah Bear's first time! Such wonderful memories were created.

We started the trip off by stopping at Ormond Beach in Flordia... as usual. However, that tradition may have just ended... It's turns out that my little water baby who LOVES bath time passionately, hates the beach. Both Justin and I tried to get him to touch the water, or sit in the sand, and he just screamed bloody murder like we were trying to kill him! This NEVER happens! My little man is usually happy with everything and goes with the flow. Well, not this time. According to Jonah: Beach = Evil (and it tastes bad...)

Jo kept picking up his feet trying to stay out of the sand.

Yep, he ate a fist full of sand. Oye. Don't worry, mama made sure he washed it down with lots and lots of watered down apple juice.

We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort thanks to a friend of mine who works at Disney World. It's a beautiful resort. We spent two nights there, and only spent one day at the parks... which was spent at Magic Kingdom. And the first thing I made sure happened when we got into the park was that Jonah got his first pair of Mickey Ears! They even have his name embroidered on the back.
He looks so big here!
Then we had to take the classic photo. It was such a blessing to have my mum there too! Jonah loved having his nana there.
Oh my, the cutest thing ever was Jo meeting Mickey Mouse. He LOVED LOVED LOVED Mickey Mouse! He was so excited to meet him, and couldn't stop staring at him! Jo would kiss his nose, and pat his head, and just couldn't get enough of him! It melted my heart.

Grandma was nice enough to take a family photo of us. I think it turned out pretty good! :D

Nana and Jonah

It was a long day, but we did break it up with a nap in between. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday. Jo's favorite things from the day: It's a small world, and Mickey Mouse. His least favorite was Pirates of the Caribbean because he fell asleep and the cannons startled him awake.
What a wonderful way to celebrate.
