Pumpkins & "Fall Fest" Costumes

Carving Pumpkins
Helping Daddy gut the pumpkin... "Ucka..."

Clearly this is very serious work.

The finished project.

The Dragon and the Duck

(A big thank you to Nana Wendy who got these cute costumes.)
Jonah just keeps saying "roar" and "duck, duck, duck..."

Levi is 7 months

Levi weighs 18 lbs the last I checked (it's been a bit since I checked....). My sweet little chubby cheeked boy.

Still going strong in cloth diapers. If we travel he's in size 3 disposables. Levi is eating 6 ounces of formula every 5 hours during the day. And solid food with every meal. We recently introduced strawberries, brussel sprouts, and squash.  He has slept though the night occasionally, so the 3 am feeding is just occasionally now. He has a dream feed around 10 at night. He is doing so well with waking during the night, and putting himself back to sleep. Occasionally I wake up with him and just listen to him talk to himself until he falls back asleep.

If I put him in the sitting position, he does really well at sitting up by himself. He's also getting soooo close to crawling! Little man says "Mama, Daddy, Dad, and None." Two days ago he also said "Hi Babe!" It was super cute.  His favorite toy is still his big brother, and he gets super cranky went Jonah is not around to entertain him. He rolls everywhere, and even scoots forward a couple inches if a toy is just out of his reach. Tonight he had his first bath without his bathtub... which meant he could play with toys! He loved it.

Walt Disney World 2013

Yes, I'm spoiled. My hubby has taken me (again) to Walt Disney World. It was so much fun to introduce Levi to all things Disney, and to see Jonah meet Mickey Mouse again, and meet his first princesses (I think he has a crush on Rapunzel.).

It was a pretty simple trip. One day in the parks, one day just around the resort, and one more day at the parks. It was really nice to have that day in between to relax. We will definitely be doing it that way again.

The first day we went to Magic Kingdom in the morning, and Epcot for dinner/after nap-time. However, it was the Food and Wine Festival, and it was crowded! Now y'all know that I have been to Disney during the Food and Wine festival many times, but this time the drunk people seemed to come out of the wood-work. So we left Epcot relatively early to go back to Magic Kingdom until bedtime. We ended up staying until the fireworks started, which was not the plan, but Jonah loved seeing the "Ma-MOOM" (a.k.a. the fireworks). They were the first he's seen.
Jonah having fun with a balloon in the resort room.
Levi meeting Mickey for the first time.

Jonah ran up to Mickey and gave him a big hug and kiss as soon as we put him down on the floor. So sweet.

Family picture with Mickey Mouse.

Jonah and his new crush... Rapunzel.

Wish I knew what they talked about... ;)

Had this silhouette done of both boys our first day there.

Day two we went to the Caribbean Beach Resorts splash pad. Jonah had a ball! Levi and Justin stayed on the sidelines taking pictures. Then we went to Downtown Disney, came back for naps, and went to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner.
Jonah and the pirate ship slash pad.

The last day we started out at Animal Kingdom, but quickly left (not much friendly stuff for a 1.5 year old and 6 month old to do...) and made it over to Magic Kingdom. Travel from one park directly to another park was horrible... it took almost two hours! That afternoon (after naps) we went back to Magic Kingdom and had a wonderful time. It was a great ending to our trip.
Levi tuckered out...

First Mickey Ears ice cream... that he stole from Daddy.

Watching Mickey's show in front of the Castle.

We can't wait to go back!

Levi is 6 Months

Levi weighs 18 lbs. Which is heavy enough that we don't carry him around in the car seat anymore...

Still going strong in cloth diapers. If we travel he's in size 3 disposables. Levi is eating 6 ounces of formula every 5 hours during the day. And solid food with every meal. He likes apples, green beans, oatmeal, rice cereal, and sweet potatoes, but he prefers bananas. He has slept though the night occasionally, so the 3 am feeding is just occasionally now. He has a dream feed around 10 at night. Unfortunately he is waking up a lot during the night to have his paci put back in, and it is quickly becoming an issue.

Levi still refuses to sit in the bumbo, bouncy-seat, or anything else. He's getting really really close to sitting up by himself. Little man says "Mama, Daddy, Dad, and None." His favorite toy is still his big brother, and he gets super cranky went Jonah is not around to entertain him. He rolls everywhere, and even scoots forward a couple inches if a toy is just out of his reach.

It's crazy how quickly he is growing up.
It's crazy how quicly BOTH my boys are growing up.

Levi is 5 Months

Levi weighs 14.6 lbs (20%), is 24 1/4 in tall (15%), and evidently, has a big head (75%) Ha!

Still going strong in cloth diapers, but we no longer use the newborn insert. If we travel he's in size 2 disposables. Levi is eating 6 ounces of formula every 4 hours during the day. We are down to one feeding a night, with a dream feed around 10:30 or 11 at night. He has slept through the night once, and Justin getting up at 4:30 a.m. with him is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Mr. Rolly-Polly is no longer being swaddled, and every time I lay him down to sleep, he immediately rolls over onto his tummy and falls asleep that way.

Levi still refuses to sit in the bumbo, bouncy-seat, or anything else. He's getting really really close to sitting up by himself. He plays with Jonah toys all of the time. If Jo leaves one too close he'll grab it and play with it. Occasionally Jonah will actually hand him one, and he LOVES that. His favorite toy is his big brother. Levi has also said "Mama" twice! I'm sure he had no idea what he was doing, but he still said it! Little man has also tried rice cereal and bananas a few times. The monkey definitely prefers the bananas.

Jonah and the Pig

A few years ago my mum gave me an Easter basket (Yes, I still get an Easter basket, and no, I won't grow up!) in it was a cute stuffed pig and the movie Charlotte's Web.

Well, I had put them away... Until today. I turned the movie on for Jo, and partway into it, I remembered the stuffed pig. I handed it to Jonah, and oh boy! You'd think it was Christmas or something!

Jonah is in love.

New Title

I'm giving myself a new title.
Well, actually, my husband gave it to me; so I guess I'm claiming it.

Home Manager.

I used to be proud of my title as housewife, (The name of this blog was even The Modern Housewife once.) then I became a stay-at-home mom. I'm proud of that too. But something happened when I became a mom of two Littles 15 months apart... I became stressed and overwhelmed. (Shocker, right?)

I had somehow gotten it in my head that I had to juggle everything by myself. That if my sweet hubby had to put a boy to bed, or move a load of laundry, that I was failing. And, well, I "failed" everyday. I couldn't do it all on my own and stay sane. Worse, I knew in my heart that I was being irrational, but my head didn't care. I could do everything before, why not now?

It was even starting to affect our marriage.

So Sunday night Justin and I talked, I felt better knowing he didn't mind moving a load of laundry, and he actually enjoyed tucking Jonah into bed. But my head still wasn't happy. Finally Justin explained that I don't need to do everything myself: I just need to make sure it somehow gets done. If I delegate something like putting a kiddo to bed, I'm still doing my duty because its getting done.

When he explained it like that, it made total sense... And my silly head became happy.

So I am now the home-manager. Look for my new business cards next week. (I kid...)

Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie

I have been drinking a lot of smoothies recently; and I found out that strawberry banana can get old really quick. So I've been looking on Pinterest and creating a few of my own.

Here is one I created this morning... Its really good.

..................................................................................................................................

Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie
 (Makes 1 20oz serving)

1 cup ice
1/2 cup vanilla greek yogurt
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
2 tsp cheesecake pudding mix
1 cup milk
And a dash of splenda or sugar

Blend all ingredients, and enjoy!

Life Lately.... Nice Routine

Crazy, un-tamable bed-head.

Ride 'em cowboy!

This is what happens when a wee little one wakes at 5:30 in the morning...

Mama's little monsters... (Mike Wazowski outfits...)

FIRST ice cream cone. (AKA Mama and Daddy got tire of sharing...)

My men!

Jonah's first carousel ride.
Life lately has been busy, but we are settling into a nice routine... I suppose when you give birth to boy boys with 15 months a each other you sign yourself up for a life of blessings and busy.

Levi is 4 Months

Haven't weighed or measured Levi recently, but he's thriving.  Still in his 3 month clothing though.

Still going strong in cloth diapers, but we no longer use the newborn insert. If we travel he's in size 1 disposables. Levi is eating every 3 hours during the day.Though this weekend we plan to make the switch to 4 hours. We finally have to down to one feeding a night, with a dream feed around 10:30 or 11 at night. Unfortunately, Justin still gets up with him around 4:30 in the morning to sleep with him on the futon... I'm looking forward to when he sleeps though the night. On a plus side, we finally moved him to his own room. To get him to sleep as long as he does during the night, I supplement with 2 ounces of formula.

Little man seems to think he is big like his brother. He refuses to sit in the bumbo, bouncy-seat, or anything else. He just keeps trying to sit up by himself until he tips over. Silly boy. He plays with Jonah toys all of the time. If Jo leaves one too close he'll grab hit and play with it. Occasionally Jonah will actually hand him one, and he LOVES that. His favorite toy is his big brother.

"Who are you?"

Levi is 3 Months!

Levi now weighs 11 lbs and 10oz. He is 24 inches long.  Like his brother, he just keeps getting longer and longer...He has no problem filling out his 3 month onesies. Soon I'm going to have to put him in 6 month pajamas!

Still going strong in cloth diapers, but we no longer use the newborn insert. If we travel he's in size 1 disposables.
Levi is eating every 3 hours during the day. Unfortunately, he has moved back to eating every 3 to 3.5 hours during the night. It's wearing me out.
I'm looking forward to when he sleeps though the night. If I don't drink enough, sometimes I have to supplement with an ounce or two of formula... but that doesn't happen very often.

His big milestones this past month are rolling onto his side, sitting up using the bumbo seat, looking at a toy and grabbing it. He's also starting to babble a bit. It's adorable.

Busy Busy Biddles

Well, since Levi has been here life seems to have gotten a lot busier. Since March we have had lots of family stay with us, friends visiting, a trip to Michigan, a trip to Gatlinburg, a week long work trip for Justin, a destination wedding to Mackinaw Island where Justin was the best man; and now we are getting ready for Levi's dedication with more family visiting, and a very long weekend in Gatlinburg for the Fourth of July.

Whew!

Between all that and Levi still wanting to eat twice during the night, no wonder I'm tired!

Life has been busy recently, but life has been wonderful.
