"Yes!" Mama: Building Forts

A random little fact about me: I am AWESOME at building blanket forts. Just ask my younger brother. We spent many of our childhood days in forts that I build for us. Some of my favorites were when my mum and I would hang sheets and blankets outside on the clothesline. You could make castles out there! Seriously, so cool.
Anyway, recently I've noticed Jonah climbing under things just to sit and be. Like the kitchen table, chairs, a few of his toys...etc. So I figured it might be time to introduce him to the blanket fort. I was a little hesitant at first because he loves to destroy things as well... like mama's nicely folded laundry; but for the sake of being a "Yes!" mama, I decided it couldn't hurt.

Our first blanket fort... built under the kitchen table.

Forts are good for cuddling your stuffed animals....
They are also great for reading books!
Or just lounging around on mama's nice pillows...
But then, in the end, there must always be a time for TOTAL DESTRUCTION!
I think it's safe to say that Fort Building was a great success, and there will be many, many forts in our future.

We've Got A Walker!

I have learned with Jonah that he likes to do things in his own time. Don't rush him, it won't help. The first time I learned this was with crawling. I was a worried, silly mama because my little man didn't start crawling until about 10 or 11 months. Most of my friend's babies were already walking! Well, my sweet hubby pointed out that their babies weren't whistling, and mine was... so it wasn't a developmental issue, just a lazy baby...

So when my Jonah Bear wasn't walking at a year old, I decided not to freak out. He would walk when he decided it was more fun than crawling... and that day came on Sunday. He's been playing around with steps here and there for a while now, but he didn't actually "walk" (as in more than 6 six steps in a row without falling down) until last Sunday. I think he just saw all the big boys in nursery walking and decided it looked fun. So now the kiddo is toddling around corners and startling his poor mama.

He still crawls once in while, like when Daddy is chasing him, or when Mama is trying to show Nana his new trick... but more than 50% of the time he's a walkin'!

He also has decided it's fun to carry things in his mouth, and to "woof." Thus the blurry walking photo...

This Valentine's Day I am linking up with Rags to Stitches and Sew Caroline for a really neat swap. A mug swap. See y'all, I signed up agreeing to mail a mug with goodies to another blogger that I've never met before.

My swapping partner is Crystal from Girl Meets Product. What she says about her blog:
"I love to write and also share products that I love and ways to save money with friends so I thought a blog would be a good combo!"
And here is what I sent her:
I am a complete dork, so most of what I sent was "homemade" I made her valentines day card, I added polka dots to a mug so it resembled her blog header, and added a few goodies like chocolate, and a candle.

I'm so much of a dork, that I actually wrote little notes and attached them with ribbon...

And then as the cherry on top, I wrapped it all up and made it look pretty. I hope Crystal wasn't too embarrassed when the mailman dropped off the box!

Here are the goodies that Crystal send me:
1. NY Mug 2. Hot Pad 3. Notebook 4. Egg Shaper 5. NY Santa Ornament 6. Lipgloss 7. Not pictured... A Snickers bar I ate already....
As y'all can tell, Crystal lives in NYC! How exciting is that? I appreciate that almost all the goodies she sent me are practical! A girl never has too much lipgloss, I'm always needing paper, and hot pads are always helpful in my kitchen!

Thanks for being my #VDayMugSwap partner Crystal! It was nice to meet you, Happy Valentines Day!

A Smile on my Face

A blogger friend (can I call her a friend if we've never met or really talked?), asked the question the other day, "What brings a smile to your face?"

Well, right now...

Staring at Jonah's one year photos... Seriously so cute.
Photographers FB page
The fact that I'm starting to look forward to Levi arriving. I'm feeling a little more prepared (the nursery is almost done, and we bought diapers...). I know I will never be completely prepared, but I'm not wary of his arrival now...

How sweet my hubby is. Seriously, he's like super-dad. Last weekend, actually the past two weekends, I have seen him carting Jonah around in one arm, and vacuuming or dusting with the other! I married Super-Dad... be jealous.

I'm kinda in a sewing kick and loving it. I've made a bib for Jonah, a sleeper sack for Levi, a maxi skirt for me, and a I have a few other goodies up my sleeve!

Following the example of Moriah from Moriah Makes and planned out what we are eating for the ENTIRE month of February  I had/have eight of the meals prepared, frozen, and ready to be thrown in the crock-pot. Organization and money savings make me happy.

I designed my first blog! A sweet friend agreed to write a guest post for me, and I volunteered to do a little HTML coding on her blog (I am by NO means an expert, but I know a tiny bit... enough to do this: But seriously, check this gals blog out, it's great.). It was fun, and I may be interested in helping anyone else to needs a little help in that department! Just make sure you email me soon! Once Levi is here I can guarantee it will be a while before HTML code will be fun... or that I'll have time for it!

Hmmm... this post was fun. (I hope I'm not alone in thinking this!) It may have to become a "thing" for me.

My Latest Pinterest Obsession

If we were having coffee today, I would probably be telling you about my latest Pinterest obsessions...

Yes, I am one of those obsessed Pinterest people, but I tend to go though phases. Last month it was all about women's fashion and hair. (I blame the tiny twig, and her awesome e-book, but I probably took it a little too far...) Happily, I am not one of those pinners who pins all the things and then let them sit. I do at least one pin in real life each week. It's not really planned, but it happens. I get so excited I just have to do it myself.

This month, it's all about DIY. Do it yourself meals, do it yourself clothing, do it yourself laundry detergent. Yes, I actually have a load of laundry in my washing machine right now that is using soap I made. I hope it turns out well! The cost savings would be AWESOME!

I also made four freezer to crock-pot meals to try out this month. Last night we had Crock-pot Chicken Teriyaki, and it wasn't too bad! As for clothing... I made myself a maxi skirt which is super cute and I'm totally proud of it (pictures later...), and my hubby promised to take me to the fabric store tomorrow so I can get more fabric for more DIY goodies!

One DIY I haven't tried yet is redoing thrifted clothing. I'm all about fixed thrifted furniture, but I haven't tried clothes yet. You can be sure that before my second little arrives, there will be a few new-to-me clothing items in my closet.

And just for kicks and giggles, here are the pins I talked about.

To see all my pinned goodies, check out my Pinterest profile. Also linking up with Coffee Date here!

What things are you obsessed with right now? Any good pins I need to know about?

Sometimes I Wonder...

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to go back on my first date with Justin and know he was going to be my husband.

I mean, I knew back then that there was a chance; we had discussed that we were not going to date just for fun... but how many girls get to marry their first date? Their first boyfriend? Their high school sweetheart? I guess I am super blessed.

What would I tell that silly, awkward sophomore girl? Probably just to remember every sweet moment.

That first magical date seemed like a fairy tale. A tenth grade girl getting asked out by the twelfth grade boy to his senior prom. Getting my first fancy dress, having my hair and makeup done. Him opening doors for me... Eating dinner with all our friends. Dancing the night away. Going back to his house for a party afterwards (Did I mention our first date was 12 hours long?). It all seems like a magical blur.

Yes, if I could go back, the only thing I would change would be to savor every moment, to try and capture each memory... because nearly eight years later we will have been married almost four years, and have our second little bundle of joy on the way. Life is amazing...
Mr. & Mrs. Justin Biddle
No, I take that back, our GOD is amazing.

Valentine's Day Card

For Christmas this past year my mum bought me a Cricut. So when Valentine's Day started to peek it's head around the corner I decided to go the homemade route and make a few special cards for a few friends and family.

I even made sure to hand write little messages inside. You know, all sorts of lovey-dovey valentines stuff that I really don't want  the whole world reading. So sorry! No pictures of the inside!

But isn't the Cricut cut cute? I was so excited to see such a simple design, but have it be detailed enough that it's not something I could cut out by hand.

What creative stuff have you done for Valentine's Day?

Linking up with the Dog Days {of Winter} are over here.
