Presenting: Levi Richard Biddle

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are the children of your youth. Blessed in the man who fills his quiver with them."
 -Psalm 127:3-5

Our sweet Levi was born on March 30th at 7:39pm. He weighs 7 lb & 5 oz and is 20 inches long. All is well, and we couldn't be more blessed. Thank you for all your prayers.

DIY J. Crew Knock-Offs

I was perusing Pinterest a month or so ago and fell in LOVE with these J. Crew shoes.

However, I was not so in love with the price... (I tend to be REALLY hard on my flats...) So I began scouting my nearby stores for a pair of beige flats that were cheap so I wouldn't feel bad about... um, altering them a bit.

I started out with shoes from Target that were on sale for $6 that originally looked like this:

Then I taped off the areas that I didn't want black, and got out my black permanent marker... nothing special:

Here is my final product:
Not too shabby since it took me a half hour and $6...
I'm tossing around the idea of adding beige dots on the black area mirroring the black dots... Thoughts?
Have you 'DIY'ed something recently?

Homemade Laundry Soap

A while ago I told y'all I was on a Pinterest DIY kick... Well, it turned out to have a few really good things come from it! Like our scrubbed tile and grout here, a few homemade clothing items, and the little beauty I'm going to share with y'all today... Homemade Laundry Soap.

Now I used to be a hardcore Tide gal. And yes, that stuff works WONDERS, but the price... ehhh... Not so wonderful. So with yet another Little Biddle, I knew laundry was going to get expensive! Especially when I had to buy a special detergent just for the cloth diapers. Well, not anymore! We use the same detergent for all our clothing, linens, diapers, etc.

I did a ton of research, asked a few friends, and then convinced the hubby to let me try. This is the recipe that I use. But just so I can always find it, I'm posting here too. Seriously, this saves us a LOT of money. It costs pennies to do a load of laundry now.

..................................................................................................................................
Homemade Laundry Soap

5-7 oz. bar of soap (Fels Naptha is what I use, make sure it's LAUNDRY SOAP, not body soap...)
1 c. Borax
1 c. Washing soda
1/2 c. OxiClean

I grate the soap using my food processor into a really fine powder, then I add the Borax, Washing Soda, and OxiClean. Pulse the processor a few times, and Volia! Homemade Laundry Soap! It's seriously that easy.

I use 1 Tablespoon in my HE machine for normal clothing, and 2 Tablespoons for cloth diapers.

Currently...

Currently I am thinking about how there are less than two weeks until my induction date... which means even less than that until my due date, and who knows, maybe I'll get lucky, and Levi will show up early!

Currently this is a little sickness bug going around our house. Prayers that  it goes away before Levi gets here would be very much appreciated.

Currently I am thinking about how Jonah must know things are going to be changing very soon because he has become a little booger! Seriously, parenting just got hard! We went to the doctors office yesterday and he spent the majority of the visit hitting, pinching, (and my favorite) spitting at me! It's like he knew there was no place for me to put him in time-out. On a much cuter note, he frequently walks into Levi's room and starts babbling about the "bay-bee."

Currently I am trying to convince myself that now is not the time to start anymore sewing projects... Evidently my nesting is still going strong...

Currently I am going over my "Before Levi" To Do List, and realizing that almost all of the things are done. Except wipe out the refrigerator... how much you want to bet that just doesn't happen?

Currently I am re-reading THIS post by Naptime Diaries... I am SO feeling this right now, but I wouldn't say I'm a nice quiet buffalo, I think I might be more of a bear. Quiet and hiding in my cave until you mess with me, and then Oooh man, you better watch out.

And Last, I am currently really looking forward to an Influence Network class that I get to attend (from the comfort of my bedroom) tomorrow night! The Tiny Twig is teaching about "Tips and Tools for Moms of Littles."

Jonah's Fun Weekend

This past weekend we made most of it all about Jonah. Especially since he will be a big brother in about two weeks (or less, if I'm lucky.) So please just deal with the cute picture overload as I write a post for posterity and the grandmas...

If you follow me on Instagram, I'm sure you've seen this ... My boy reading me a very interesting story.

Happy boy on the porch!

Daddy was trying to get Jonah over his fear of grass.
(And yes, Jonah is no longer afraid of grass... just dirt! HA!)

Saturday we had a KFC picnic at the park. My men were VERY happy.
(P.S. That was Daddy's biscuit  but it's Jonah's favorite part of the meal, so he grabbed Justin's and chowed down. It's the first time we didn't rip it apart for him. He was SO happy!)
It's very serious business to climb up the stairs.

"No, Daddy, THIS way!"

Could have cared less about the slide.
I think Jonah really enjoyed himself... Highlight? Probably the biscuit! HA!

Afternoon at the Park

Yesterday afternoon we spent a good bit of time at a nearby park. No reason, just because.

Our shadows when we went for a walk. Yes, that is a very pregnant shadow...

Trying to get Mama to head AWAY from the car.

Fun spinners.

Little Man LOVES to swing!

Happy Boy. Happy Mama.
It was a lot of fun. We'll have to go back with Daddy sometime soon... Mama can't crawl through tubes and go down slides... she might get stuck.

Weekend Projects

The hubby and I had a very productive weekend... We made a chalkboard wall in our kitchen, and scrubbed the grout/tiles in the kitchen. Seriously y'all, our kitchen looks awesome!
The chalkboard wall was by far the easiest project. It's actually chalkboard contact paper that I found here. So you just cut it out, and stick it on! The hubby loved that when this cute chalkboard fad runs it's course, I can just peel it off.

Then there was the grout and tile cleaning. This was definitely the more time consuming project, but I have a sweet hubby who scrubbed all but like two tiles (This 8 month pregnant woman got tired...). So serious Cinderella points to him! It took two hours to scrub the grout and tile, but man, was it worth it! Oh, and this is the "recipe" we used from Pinterest, and yes, it really does work (I was skeptical).

Grout & Tile Cleaner
3 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup baking soda
2 Tbsp + 2 tsp ammonia
2 Tbsp vinegar

Put cleaner in spray bottle, spray grout, let stand for 30 seconds, scrub, wipe off cleaner with clean damp rag. Tada! Clean grout!

The only downside to this awesome cleaner is that the baking soda leaves a film on the tile, but after a couple moppings, the tile looks brand-spanking new!

It was a very productive weekend. Did you do anything special this past weekend?

Levi's Baby Shower

Yesterday I mentioned that my church was going to throw Levi a baby shower.... Little did I know they were going to go over the top! Seriously! These wonderful people blessed the socks off Justin, Jonah, and me!
The beautiful food table! Isn't it incredible!
It was held in the choir room during normal Wednesday night hours, so of course we started off with prayer. However, our church is going through revival right now, so the prayer turned into a big deal (LOVE!), and people were healed during the baby shower! (Woot! Ain't no party like a Holy Ghost party!) Seriously, best baby shower ever. Forget those silly games, just start prayin'!

When we stopped praying we all started eating all these sweet goodies!
Cupcakes with chocolate "L"s on them for Levi, little booties made of cups to hold nuts, and  cookies wrapped up in napkin diapers! Seriously! How cute!
The food table again, and the gift table before they overwhelmed it with stuff for Levi!
Then, right after, we all went to the sanctuary where our Pastor was preaching to the guys and interrupted because it was his birthday that night! He thought everyone forgot because of the baby shower. So his wife got to surprise him with cake and ice cream after church! Ha! I love that we celebrated Levi's coming birth, and Pastor's birthday all in one night!

It was an amazing night, and it's incredible how loved, and cared for our sweet church family made us feel.

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us!

Currently...

Currently in the Biddle Household...

We are scrambling trying to get the last few things done before Levi arrives. He's due in 25 days! And those days tend to fly when you are also chasing a newly toddling one year old! He's getting into so much more stuff these days... For example about a half hour ago he smashed, and I mean SMASHED his tiny little thumb in a toy chest my Papa made. He carried around a frozen teething toy in that hand until nap time.
Yours truly, 36 Weeks along with Boy #2.

I am sewing/crafting like a crazy person! I guess it's because I didn't have to get a nursery ready (We are just moving going to put Levi in Jonah's old nursery...), but my nesting this time around has turned into me trying to be creative. I've sewed skirts, tops, scarves, P.J. pants, baby clothing... I've made homemade laundry detergent, wall stickers, cards, etc. I'm even helping out a friend with a wedding project that involves painting!
The wall sticker I made for Levi's room, and a few of the scarves I've made recently.

The hubby isn't sleeping well. I think it has something to do with a newborn coming, a lot going on at work, and trying to share a queen sized bed with a giant pregnant lady... Poor guy. Between stress and sharing a bed with a whale, he doesn't have much of a chance.

I'm not sleeping well. I think it has something to do with being 8 months pregnant.... but ya never know. *wink* On the plus side, my doctor said I can take Tylenol PM if I need to. So if I know I'm going to have a crazy busy day the next day, I hit the sack at 8 pm and take some PM happiness. (The hubby is not a fan of this, but he sleeps really well when I do, so he doesn't complain too much.)

Jonah is about ready to transition to one nap a day. And mama ain't happy about it. I was hoping he could hold out until Levi was here for a little bit... Honestly, mama was hoping for more sleep. But it looks like this weekend we might be trying to make the transition.... Maybe.

Speaking of Jonah, My big boy is BIG! The Bear is only 14 months old (15 on Friday), but he is in 24 month onesies, and 18 month pants. Now he is actually quite skinny, but man, is he TALL! The clothes almost look silly on him because he needs the length, but not the width. I guess I should blame it on all the sleep and food he gets. The kid can (and usually does) eat a WHOLE (minus the crust, 'cause I'm a nice mama like that) PBJ sandwich, fruit/veggie pouch, and a couple crackers. Seriously, he's only ONE!

Tonight, our sweet church family is throwing us a baby shower. I know it's not common for people to have a baby shower for the second baby, let alone a baby that is the same gender and so close in age to the first child; but my lovely friends decided that they wanted to show us some love. I so appreciate it. It does make me feel loved, and remembered, and cared for. It's so nice when our family is so far away.

I guess that's all the updating for now... Hopefully I can pry myself away from the sewing machine again soon. I'll have to let y'all know that, yes, I am indeed still pregnant. And that yes, our family is still alive and thriving.
