Life Lately.

This. This happened.

Just two little boys, dangling their feet off the porch talking about the birds... or at least that's what I think they were talking about... sometimes it's hard to tell.

Easter 2014

Easter was spent at home this year. It was the first year that we stayed home in 4 years, but it was good. It was fun to start our own family traditions and to relax.

The week leading up to Easter my dad and step-mom came to visit, so the boys were already on spoiled mode after presents, eating out a lot, candy, and fun trips to Chattanooga.

We started off the festivities by coloring eggs the day before. Levi just got to watch, but we let Jonah help mama color the eggs in Kool-Aid.

Every year for as long as I can remember my mom-in-law would make a special Easter dinner complete with the fancy dishes and a special thing called "ham-loaf." Think ham meatloaf with pineapple and cherries. Me, not so much a fan, but the hubs LOVES it. I told him that I wasn't up to making the labor intensive ham-loaf, but I would make anything else he wanted to start our own Easter traditions... So he requested Ham and Cheese casserole. It's basically Velveeta macaroni and cheese with tiny bits of ham. We also made green beans, jello, and had hot cross buns.

Since the boys are so young, and really have no idea that the Easter bunny brings the special baskets of goodies, we decided to let them open the gifts after church... (bummer I know.) But it turned out well, and they had no idea they should have had Peeps for breakfast instead of the oatmeal and hard boiled eggs they got.

Enjoying one of his Peeps!

It was a slow and quiet Easter, but it was a fun start to our own Easter traditions.

P.S. If you need a quick pick-me-up check out Jonah trying to tell me the Good News!
