Benny Bunny is 5 Months

My sweet, happy Chubby Bunny is 5 months old today!
Benjamin weighs 18 lbs 2 ounces. I have started to lovingly call him my Chubby Bunny. This child has the most amazing thighs... So many rolls. He has almost grown out of his 6 month onesies, and all of his pajamas. Also, the poor kid can't sit in his Bumbo seat anymore because his thighs won't fit! (Levi can sit in it, but Ben can't!)

He's in still in size 3 diapers, but we still use a special night-time diaper. Benny is eating 6 ounces of formula every 3.5 hours, and has started to eat solid food. Pediatrician recommended it, so I tried giving him a little... Now he prefers food to the bottle! His favorite so far is apples. He's not a huge fan of squash. Typically he wakes once at night to get a bottle. Big Ben no longer wants to be swaddled. Makes me kinda sad. The Bigs wanted to be swaddled until 6 months... not this boy!

He is still nowhere close to rolling over, but he can sit up if i hold his tush in place. Since starting food everything goes in his mouth to taste and see.
He's grabbing toys, his lovey, is blowing raspberries, makes some pretty awesome spit bubbles, discovered his feet, and loves to have people talk to him. His favorite toy is a tie between biggest brother and his jumper. Best thing ever is to have Jonah play with the jumper while he is in it.

My sweet smiley chunk of boy is a joy.

Banana-Carrot Protein Muffins (Dairy-free)

I've been making a lot of muffins recently. My boys are ravenous ALL. OF. THE. TIME. Seriously, less than 30 minutes after eating a hearty breakfast of oatmeal and fruit they are asking if it's snack-time. Now that Levi is dairy-free, it's hard to find snacks he can eat that don't break the bank. Well, this morning I made up my own muffin recipe... and amazingly it turned out quite good! I was even sneaky and added Levi's most hated vegetable. The dreaded carrot. He has no clue, and he's getting fruit, veggie, and protein in one little snack! Mama win!

Banana-Carrot Protein Muffins
Makes 12 muffins

Ingredients:
  1/2 cup pureed carrots
  2 ripe bananas
  2 eggs
  1/2 cup oil
  1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
  2 cups flour
  1/2 cup sugar
  1 teaspoon baking soda
  1 teaspoon baking powder
  1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vanilla hemp protein powder (got ours from trader joes)

Directions:
I preheated the oven to 350 degrees. Then I mixed all the wet ingredients in my Kitchen-Aid (the first six ingredients). Next I put my sifter on top of the mixer, and added all the dry ingredients into the sifter (the last 7 ingredients). Then I sifted the dry into the wet, and mixed well. Pour batter into 12 lined muffin tins. Tin cups should be 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 20 minutes. Toothpick should come out clean. (If you don't sift the dry ingredients, the muffins should turn out just as tasty... just not very fluffy.)

If my directions aren't very clear, please comment. I'd be happy to try explain further.

The Color Run

I completed my first run post-baby last Saturday. It was brutal. I was so in-shape before I had Benjamin... it's sad to know how much strength I lost, and how much weight I gained in a year. So I'm considering these race photos my "before" shots.

Benjamin is Four Months

Benjamin weighs 15 lbs 10 ounces (51%), is 25 in tall (48%), and still has his big noggin (71%). Ha! Big Ben is in 6-9 month onesies. He's definitely my biggest boy.

He's in still in size 3 diapers, but we use a special night-time diaper. Benny is eating 4 ounces of formula every 3 hours, and still nursing after the bottle too. He still eats several times a night... like two to three. He still loves to be swaddled, but he's getting good at escaping.

He is nowhere close to rolling over, but he refuses to recline when sitting on my lap... he has to sit up. He's also dying to play with big brothers... reaching for them, and lighting up when they pay attention to him. He's starting to grab toys, and cuddle his lovey under his arm. His favorite toy is still his biggest brother.

He's starting to put things in his mouth, so maybe next month we will give him a little food.

Big milestones are grabbing toys, spinning on his back, and saying "mama" when we were at Disney.
